Marion Edward Honerkamp, 71, of Fayetteville, GA, died on December 16, 2010. He was a gregarious soul, family man, Army veteran, Kentucky Colonel, and food sales manager with four decades of experience.

Born in Bismarck, Missouri, Marion moved to Farmington and graduated from Farmington High School in 1957. Marion met his wife Emagene in 1970. They were married in 1971, and settled in College Park. Their son Robert was born in 1973. Moving to Fayetteville in 1983, Marion was active in the community as an adult leader of Cub Scout Pack 76 and Boy Scout Troop 72, as well as the Fayette County High School Band Boosters, where he earned an award as "Volunteer of the Year". He was inducted into Scouting's Order of the Arrow as a member of the Ini-To Lodge, Echota Chapter. Through the 1970s and 1980s, Marion was an active member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Riverdale where he ushered for the early morning service each week. He was also an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Peachtree City.

Marion served in the US Army at Killeen Base in Texas as an MP with the Defense Atomic Support Agency (DASA). After leaving the Army, Marion began his career in food sales with Hart's Bakeries in Jackson, Mississippi. He moved to the Atlanta area with a transfer to the Hart's Bakery facility in Forest Park, Georgia. After the purchase of Hart's Biscuit Company by Heublein, Marion managed foodservice sales for Heublein's Grocery Products Group. From there, he moved into Del Monte's foodservice group after Heublein's purchase by RJ Reynolds. He left Del Monte in 1988 as Director of Foodservice Sales, and started his own food company, H&H Food Specialties, with his wife Genie.

He loved his family dearly, and was overjoyed at the birth of his granddaughter Gemma Charlotte a year ago. Marion loved spending time with Gemma, and especially enjoyed swimming with her in the pool.

He is survived by his wife, Emagene "Genie" Honerkamp of Fayetteville, GA; son Robert (Heather) of Tucker, GA; brothers Joseph (Ann) Honerkamp; Robert Honerkamp; Carl Honerkamp; Ronald (Karen) Honerkamp all of Farmington, MO; Kenneth Honerkamp of Springfield, MO; Gary (Ione) of St. Genevieve, MO; sisters Mary Ann (Frank) Hale of Farmington, MO; Norma Jean (Fred) Braun of Lake Ozark, MO; and Helen (Kenneth) Skaggs of Fredericktown, MO; beloved granddaughter Gemma Honerkamp, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Alvin and Annabelle Fink Honerkamp, and sister Verna Mae Hartshorn.

Family visitation 6 pm, Monday, Dec 20 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Riverdale, GA. Burial service at 10 am, Tuesday, Dec 21 Georgia National Cemetery, Canton, GA followed by a memorial service at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Riverdale, GA at 1 pm also Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations to the American Heart Association (800) 242-8721.
